SCIRUBETTA – ARTISAN GELATO FESTIVAL 2024

A village of artisan gelato in the heart of the city

From 14 to 17 September 2024, the seafront of Reggio Calabria will become the stage for Scirubetta – the Artisan Gelato Festival, an event proudly sponsored by Babbi. A celebration that brings together flavour, art and culture, offering participants an extraordinary sensory experience.

Throughout the festival, 34 master gelato makers from around the world will delight visitors with exclusive creations designed to enhance the authentic flavours of the Mediterranean. In addition to tastings, the programme includes talks, performances, live cooking sessions and activities for children.

On Monday, 16 September at 6:00 PM, in the Talk Area, our demonstrator technician Samuele Vecchi will present Quesandia, a unique flavour inspired by the international Babbi recipe collection “Around the World”. This Chilean recipe leads visitors on a journey through Andean traditions reinterpreted with local Calabrian ingredients.

At first taste, the creaminess of fresh cheese and yoghurt merges into a delicate balance of sweetness and acidity, contrasting with the intense freshness of frozen watermelon. The flavour is completed by a touch of basil, adding an aromatic and refreshing note reminiscent of a gentle breeze along the Calabrian coastline.
